About the project
Nowadays life has become so fast-paced that little things of it started losing its truly meaning. You stop and think about things and what you know about them and find a lot of blanks, music being one of them. You listen to it on the radio, by the stores you go, inside elevators, by people walking past you or simply on your own. But do you know about the history of what has brought that music to your phone or computer? Or deeply, about all the other categories that you just suppress because it’s not the top hits on the radio?
It’s hard to know so much information about one thing but it’s not impossible if you use the right tools. In this project we focused on the Brazilian music, its categories and subdivisions and their past. By creating it our objective is to show people how many things exist that we don’t even know about and how the Brazilian culture is rich and unique.
The audience of it is wide. It doesn’t only consist of people of the academic field as history major or music major but it is for any person that is curious and interested in music as a whole. Going through the links you will find the explanation of each category and their audio examples, that way the person will explore and discover not only the music but the history of a country that is mostly known about just one category, samba.
